No other team has dominated the French handball scene as Montpellier HB has. This is due to one name: Patrice Canayer. His team has won almost anything there was to win in recent years of French handball. On the European stage they have established themselves by winning the EHF Champions League in 2003.

Tunisian national team captain, Heykel Mgannem, has been joining Montpellier on July 1st and will be playing at the SCHLECKER CUP for the first time ever. Some will remember the dramatic semi-final Germany vs France at the world championship 2007 and the French national team players Michaël Guigou, Daouda Karaboue, Joël Abati and Cedric Burdet; especially left wing Guigou.
