The new face from Slovenia: RK Cimos Koper at the SCHLECKER CUP

Besides the two German teams TBV Lemgo and VfL Gummersbach the two first international participants for the 22nd SCHLECKER CUP have been signed. The new face of Slovenian Handball RK Cimos Koper will be coming from the Mediterranean coast to Ehingen and meet TBV Lemgo again after this year’s encounter at the EHF Cup. Furthermore, the newcomer from last year and current Danish leader of the national championship, FCK Håndbold, will also come to play the SCHLECKER CUP 2008 as well as the semi-final of the EHF cup against Koper.

Currently, RK Cimos Koper is ranking on second at the Slovenian championship only behind Celje Pivovarna Lasko. If they manage to win the first championship this year before joining the SCHLECKER CUP 2008, will also depend on keeping up their home force.

At the semi-finals of the EHF Cup, Koper plays against FCK Håndbold, the team that had been the newcomer at the SCHLECKER CUP in Ehingen in 2007. On April 5 2008 and April 12 2008 the two matches will take place. With their success on the European level RK Cimos Koper proves that they have to be taken into account the coming years, and also how strong Slovenian handball has become.

As in 2007, the team of head coach Alfred Gislason, VfL Gummersbach, will be playing on August 30 and August 31 1008 at the Laengenfeldhalle in Ehingen. After their hot final in the main round of the EHF Champions League at Ciudad Real, they had to accept their loss, but certainly gained acknowledgment for their strong performance across the European handball scene.

We warmly welcome RK Cimos Koper, FCK Håndbold and VfL Gummersbach at the SCHLECKER CUP 2008! Updated information is available at
